Curriculum
We provide a Christian atmosphere for your child to learn and grow. We offer developmentally appropriate activities for your child’s own unique development. We use our valuable local resources to enhance our program during all the seasons.

On a normal day, your child will have choices from among the following activities appropriate to his/her age and development:

  • Group activities that include but are not limited to: stories, art, music, etc.
  • Individual activities that include but are not limited to: home-living, manipulatives, free play, blocks, sand/water, etc.
  • Nap/rest time
  • Lunch/snacks: a nutritious lunch and two wholesome snacks are a part of your child’s full day schedule
  • Outside play: except during inclement weather

We encourage parents to become active participants with our program. Please join us for the fun, anytime, any day!

Outside Resources
We have access to many early childhood education consultants and resources. We will gladly discuss with you developmental evaluations (speech, vision, hearing) and offer possible resources that can be used.

Nutrition and Rest
Each child present during serving time will receive a nutritious breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack. If we have a delayed opening, breakfast will not be served. A weekly menu is posted at the front entrance and in the kitchen. A copy of our menu will be provided upon request. Please refrain from bringing in any food items. If your child has allergies or must be on a special diet, we require written verification from your pediatrician. Please check with your child’s teacher regarding food allergies before bringing any treats to school.

Rest/nap times vary with each age group of children. Soft music and stories will be played during rest time. Each child will be assigned his/her own mat/cot and sheet by the center. We ask that each parent bring in a small blanket that will comfortably fit in your child’s cubby space. Pillows are NOT allowed for both safety and sanitation reasons. We request that parent bring their child’s blanket home each Friday to be laundered.

Pictures
Our center has individual and group pictures taken in the Fall and Spring. You are under no obligation to purchase these pictures. From time to time, your child’s picture may be taken in groups or individually as they participate in various activities. These pictures will be the property of our center and may be used at our discretion. If you would like to exclude your child from these pictures, please turn in a written notification that we can place in your child’s permanent file.

Children’s Belongings
We ask that you clearly label with your child’s name any and all personal belongings. Please include for your child a seasonal change of clothing and check periodically for size appropriateness. We will not be responsible for any items that are lost, broken or misplaced. We do encourage you to let your child bring items for show and tell on appropriate days.

Arrival and Departure
Parents should enter the building with his/her child and escort your child to their classroom. DO NOT allow your child to enter or leave the building without an adult! All children must enter and exit through the front entrance only. Parents should always inform the teacher upon arrival and departure. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should your child exit the building alone. PLEASE HOLD YOUR CHILD’S HAND AS YOU ESCORT HIM/HER SAFELY TO YOUR VEHICLE. Parking lots are a great source of hidden danger. Please address this fact to your child daily if necessary.

Pick Up/Release
Your child can only be released to persons authorized on the application without any notification. We do request you notify us if someone other than a regular daily pick-up person will be picking up your child. If someone other than the people authorized on the application must pick up your child, you will need to send a written note with the name and description of the person along with your signature and the date. The pick-up person will be required to show identification upon arrival.

Child Abuse/Neglect
Abuse occurs when a parent or caregiver injures or allows another to injure a child  physically or emotionally. Neglect occurs when a child does not receive proper care, supervision, or discipline, or when a child is abandoned. NC law requires any person who suspects child abuse or neglect to report the case to the county department of social services. In addition, any person can call the Division of Child Development and make a report of suspected child abuse or neglect in a child day care operation. Reports can be made anonymously. Child care employees are required by law to report any signs of abuse or neglect.

Medications
We will administer medication authorized by a physician ONLY. All medication must be in its original container with the pharmacy label on it. Medication authorization forms must be filled out and signed for one week or by the day. We will dispose of any medicine that has been left behind at the end of the day. We will only administer medicine at lunch time, once a day!

Sick Children
You will be asked to pick up your child if your child has a fever of 101 degrees or higher, uncontainable diarrhea, or vomiting, or if we suspect a contagious disease. A child that has been sent home with a fever must have a doctor’s note to return on the NEXT business day. The child must be on a prescribed antibiotic for 24 hours before returning (if an antibiotic is prescribed). A child must be able to participate in all activities including outside play!

Parent Participation
We welcome parents to visit our program, without notice, any time. Parental involvement is an integral part of our program. We encourage parents to talk with the teachers or to watch your child interact with his/her friends. Get to know us and your child’s friends

We offer several activities during the year to encourage interaction between parents, teachers and their children. These include, but are not limited to: parties, field trips, chorus trips, picnics and conferences.

Our seasonal parent newsletter and information boards in your child’s room are ways to keep updated on events at our center. We also love for parents to participate with donations for activities. Check with your child’s teacher for the need of any of the following items: magazines, clothes your child has outgrown, books, paper, dress-up clothes, etc.
